From teen help to parenting workshops, we are committed to providing domestic violence help to women in need.

We strive to help women rebuild their lives after experiencing these traumatic events through educational, compassionate, and practical resources and workshops.

About Tyra
Tyra Wright-Johnson, Founder, President

Tyra launched The Women’s Solo Project to educate women in the community about domestic violence recovery.

As a former victim of violence, Tyra knows first-hand the importance of education for empowering women to take control of their lives. Through TWSP, Tyra teaches the signs of domestic violence and strategies for breaking free from it.

She brings more than 22 years of experience in marketing, administration, finance, team leadership, management, domestic violence advocacy, and the correctional system to the administration of TWSP.

Tyra received an A.A.S. in Criminal Justice, a B.A. in Business Management, and a Masters in Psychology. Nominated for the Women’s Way, Powerful Voice Award. She won a Women’s Opportunity Award from Soroptimist International, of which she is a member.

She has received certificates in “Domestic Violence Training” from Women Against Abuse, “Parent Educator Ambassador” from the Black Alliance for Educational Options, “Business Management” from Wharton Small Business Center and The Women’s Development Center in Philadelphia. She is also a volunteer with The Career Wardrobe and Green Tree Community Health Foundation.

Tyra is active in domestic violence advocacy, motivational speaking, and charity event planning.

Wanda C. Price, PhD
Executive Director of the Board

Human Resources professional with over 35 years in the financial services industry. She had responsibilities for the design, implementation, communication, and administration of employee benefit plans. Also assisted in corporate training and development in facilitating workshops and seminars on a variety of issues and corporate wellness coordinator providing incentives, seminars, friendly employee competitions focused on overall wellness.

Her time since retirement has been devoted to professional volunteering where she has filled various leadership positions either through election, appointment, or assuming responsibilities where needed for non-profit organizations, community events, and church and family obligations.

Currently in her role as Executive Director of the Board for The Women’s Solo Project, Price has responsibilities for overseeing responsibilities of tasks relevant to the success of the organization and through her leadership ensures that the organization remains aligned with overall goals and culture as well.

For more than 30 years, Price has been a member of Soroptimist International of Five Points Magneta, located in Philadelphia, PA. Soroptimist International of the Americas (SIA) is a global organization with clubs in more than 121 countries throughout the world. The focus of Soroptimist is to invest in and empower women and girls through programs leading to their economic empowerment.

Soroptimist Leadership positions held in Soroptimist are numerous including region governor, Board Member of Soroptimist International of the Americas federation (elected); Representative of SIA on the International Advocacy Team (appointed), Donor Relations Task Force (appointed), and Dream Big Ambassador (volunteered).

Price has been a Member of the National Association of Professional Women, Member of PEBA (Pa., NJ., De. Employee Benefits & Compensation Association and previously served on the Board of Girl Scouts of Greater Philadelphia and Girl Scouts of Southeastern Pa.

Price holds a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from the University of Phoenix, a Master of Business Administration from Eastern University, and a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management from Temple University.

She enjoys traveling, reading, working on crossword puzzles, as well as crafting and sewing. She admits to being a novice at container gardening and enjoys seeing the results of her efforts.
